Our Story
Olive Tree Speech Pathology Services was founded with the hope to empower clients in their communication journeys. Our practice is rooted in the core values of resilience and hope, which inspired us to name the clinic after the olive tree, recognized as one of the most resilient trees on the planet. The olive tree also represents peace and friendship, highlighting our steadfast commitment to our clients as they navigate their communication paths.

Hannah Im, S-LP (C) Reg. CASLPO
Clinic Owner, Registered Speech-Language Pathologist
Hannah is the founder of Olive Tree Speech Pathology Services and a registered Speech-Language Pathologist.
Fascinated by the human mind, Hannah studied Psychology in Toronto, Ontario, specializing in Developmental Psychology and Psycholinguistics. She received various scholarships and graduated with distinct honours.
Hannah then obtained a Master of Communication Disorders and Speech-Language Pathology in London, Ontario. She holds an internationally recognized certification with Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC), and is registered in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Hannah brings a wealth of experience in areas such as preschool speech and language, literacy, autism, social communication, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), acute care dysphagia, stroke / neurological rehabilitation, and accent modification. Hannah provides services in English and Korean. She is committed to preserving cultural heritage and fostering diversity, and she offers consultations on healthy bilingual language development in children. Hyunji Shin, S-LP (C) Reg. CASLPO
Registered Speech-Language Pathologist
Hyunji joins us as a registered Speech-Language Pathologist.
Hyunji received her Master of Health Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Toronto. Hyunji has practiced as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Seoul and Pyeongtaek, South Korea, providing culturally-sensitive speech and language services to multilingual communities, including international schools, US military families, and multicultural families.
Hyunji is passionate about working with children and adults with motor speech (Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Acquired Apraxia, Speech Motor Delay) / articulation disorders, stuttering, language delay, aphasia, and cognitive communication disorders. She also loves supporting non-speaking individuals and individuals who benefit from augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Hyunji takes a family-centred, strength-based approach to supporting individuals' communication, while following best practices to ensure therapy is evidence-based, effective, and meaningful. Outside of clinical work, Hyunji is involved in research focusing on speech sound disorders, provides professional development lectures internationally, and spends a lot of time baking and cooking various cultural foods!

Articulation refers to the ability to produce speech sounds correctly. Our articulation services are designed to help individuals improve their ability to produce speech sounds, which can help them communicate more effectively with others.
AUGMENTATIVE & ALTERNATIVE COMMUNICATION (AAC)
Our AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) services support individuals needing alternative communication methods. We offer personalized assessments and tailored solutions to empower effective communication. Our team collaborates with clients to provide the right tools, enhancing independence and quality of life. We offer ongoing coaching for families and educators, which is integral to the successful implementation and use of the AAC.
DEVELOPMENTAL LANGUAGE DELAY
Developmental language delay refers to a delay in the development of language skills. Our early intervention services are designed to help children improve their language skills, enabling them to achieve their full potential at home, in school, and beyond. Intervention for children with developmental language delay takes a strong family-oriented approach, ensuring that the family members are actively involved in each step along the child's language development journey.
MOTOR SPEECH / CHILDHOOD APRAXIA OF SPEECH
Motor speech disorders, including childhood apraxia of speech, affect a child's to plan and coordinate the movements needed for speech. Our services offer evidence-based therapy designed to improve speech precision and motor planning through tailored exercises and techniques.
POST-STROKE REHABILITATION
Individuals who have experienced a stroke often encounter challenges with speech and language. Our post-stroke rehabilitation services aim to help them improve their communication skills, providing essential support during these difficult times with a strong family-centred approach.
